- Constant brightness headlights can reverse automatically or be controlled independently.
- Digitrax’s real FX lighting effects (Mars lights, strobe lights, ditch lights, Gyra lights, rotating beacons, flickering firebox) make operation of American layouts more realistic. FX lighting is included in all premium Digitrax decoders. British locomotives, where fewer ‘special effects’ are needed, generally need only the simpler – and therefore cheaper - decoders such as the DH123 or DN121 or DZ123.
- Digitrax economy decoders, like the DH123 series, include standard function leads to turn lights and other functions on and off. These are perfect for B units or locomotives with basic lighting.
- Digitrax decoders offer both 2 and 4 digit addressing.
- Digitrax decoders can be programmed to allow multiple units to run as one (‘MU’ing); you can select decoder direction; and 128 step loadable speed table mode capabilities enable you to match the individual characteristics of your locomotive to your layout’s operational needs.
- If you run a Digitrax decoder-equipped locomotive on a regular smooth DC system, it will automatically detect that no DCC signal is present and run as a regular DC locomotive.
- All Digitrax decoders are repairable.

NB      For Z scale locomotives, the maximum decoder output voltage MUST be programmed to be no higher than 9v
