| STARTER SETS All DCC equipment sold by SCC is compatible with the NMRA DCC standards and so at the track level decoders and accessory decoders can be used on all systems. However, there are differences in the protocols and wiring used to control the boosters and throttles as follows: Digitrax systems use LocoNet™ and the ‘hardware’ of throttles and boosters is fully compatible with any system that uses the LocoNet protocol, such as Ullenbrok, CML and Fleishmann Twin. NCE uses a 4 wire RS-485 cab bus with RJ12 connectors and is compatible with existing Wangrow systems. The effective result of this is that you choose the system you prefer
and run whichever mobile or accessory decoders you want with it. In deciding
which system to use it is important to consider future expansion and whether
you intend to have complex block detection and signalling systems; the
protocols used for block detection may affect your choice of system. |
| DIGITRAX STARTER SETS The Digitrax DCC systems give you the flexibility to create your ideal model railway control system. There are three starter sets, each of which includes the DCC components you need to run any decoder-fitted locomotives. The basic set (Zephyr) will run any scale from Z to HO/OO; the advanced (Super Empire Builder) and premium level sets (Super Chief) are capable of operating any scale from Z to G. Once your Digitrax system is up and running, it is simple and cost effective to increase its capabilities and to add new features with Digitrax components or additional starter sets. Upgrading to a higher level system does not make components obsolete – adding another throttle increases the number of trains you can control, while buying a DCS100 leaves your DB150 free for running a reverse loop or providing extra power to run more trains if you split the layout into two areas. |
Zephyr: Basic DCC but with the features most railway modellers
want - Simple to use with numeric keypad and LED display. |
| Super Empire Builder: Advanced Train Control at a Reasonable Price The Super Empire Builder Set is perfect for most home layouts and clubs running up to 22 throttles and trains at once. It is easy to learn to use but has all the features advanced operators seek. It includes: · DB150 Command Station/Booster combination · DT400 Digital LocoNet Throttle (infra-ready) · UP5 LocoNet panel and connecting cable · LT-1 Test Kit and complete manuals - Digital throttle with click
encoders for the finest speed control and direction control, and full
numeric keypad. |
| Super Chief: Top-level system with extra flexibility for the discerning
modeller Digitrax’s premium system has all the capabilities of the Super Empire Builder with the added capacity and functionality of the DCS100 command station/booster. The Super Chief was launched in response to the demands of DCC enthusiasts, combining state-of-the-art systems with the flexibility of the keypad throttle. It includes: · DCS100 Command Station/Booster combination · DT400 Digital LocoNet Throttle (infra-ready) · UP5 LocoNet panel and connecting cable · LT-1 Test Kit and complete manuals - Digital throttle with click encoders for the finest
speed and direction control; full numeric keypad. |
| NCE STARTER SETS SCC is UK dealer for North Coast Engineering (NCE). The NCE decoders expand the range already available from SCC and the complete NCE systems offer a choice to the customer in the ‘hardware’ for the layout, as well as compatibility with existing NCE or Wangrow systems. We stock a range of decoders, detailed in the price list; ask us about price and availability of other items. The manufacturers describe
it as the most user-friendly DCC system on the market, in that the
throttles have clearly labelled buttons and well thought out menu prompts
in plain English, and the majority of the most often performed operations
require just a single key press. There are two systems: |
Power Cab: basic system This compact 2 amp system is designed for Z to OO/HO scale layouts. It will run 2 or 3 OO/HO locomotives or up to 4 N scale ones. The combined commander station and throttle enables you to programme decoders, operate lights and sound, and more. Powerhouse Pro: advanced system The Powerhouse Pro comes in two different power specifications:
5 amp (for Z to S scale) and 10 amp (for O scale and larger). NB: For running in the UK an MT10 5A transformer is recommended, which we can supply from our ALL Components range. - Suitable for small home layouts to large club ones, and can be upgraded
by swapping a single programme memory chip. |
